His performances on wooden flutes have captivated audiences worldwide, blending historical authenticity with a fresh, vibrant approach to the instrument.

Norman’s musical journey began in his native Canada, where he was influenced by the rich folk traditions of the Maritimes. He quickly developed a deep passion for the wooden flute, an instrument central to both Celtic and early European music. Throughout his career, Norman has dedicated himself to mastering a variety of wooden flutes and fifes, bringing their unique tones and historical contexts to life on the modern stage. His virtuosic playing is characterized by a warm, expressive tone and an innate ability to bring centuries-old music to new heights of emotional depth.

In addition to his solo work, Chris Norman is the founder of The Chris Norman Ensemble, a group known for its innovative approach to combining early music with traditional folk. Norman’s versatility as a flutist is further highlighted by his collaborations with a wide array of artists and ensembles, including symphony orchestras, chamber groups, and folk musicians from around the world.
